Approval in principle for Methanol powered Wind Turbine Installation Vessel.

DNV is issuing an Approval in Principle for the design of a Methanol driven Wind Turbine Installation vessel designed by Vard Design.

The vessel is a part of a portfolio where all vessels are able to handle the next generation turbines. With a crane capacity of 2600 tons and a variable deck load of 14.000 tons, the VARD 4 52 is a highly capable vessel for large bottom fixed wind farms up to 75 meters water depth.

The methanol-electric system together with a large battery pack will reduce the CO2 footprint by up to 90%. The vessel has sufficient capacity for 28 days of operation on methanol.
